11/16/07 - Mummies COMING SOON in 3D
Giant Screen Films is thrilled to announce that the 3D version of Mummies: Secrets of the Pharaohs has officially been green-lit and will be launching in early 2008.
Nominated for multiple GSCA awards, including Best Film, Best Cinematography, and Best Film for Lifelong Learning, Mummies 3D: Secrets of the Pharaohs is now the first 3D film in the very popular and successful Egypt genre.
Mummies will be the first film to be photographed originally in 2D with the 3D conversion planned from the outset. The cinematography beautifully translates into three dimensions, whisking audiences into the world of ancient Egypt.
“We knew while filming that a 3D conversion of Mummies was down the road. Reed Smoot and I always kept that in mind and made sure that the framing and shot composition were designed for that end purpose. The imagery is really conducive to 3D and there are particular sequences in the film that are going to come alive in the third dimension.”
- Keith Melton, Director
"Because Mummies was designed, from the start, as a 3D conversion from a 2D original release, Mummies 3D will be equal in quality to a 3D-originated film, and, in some instances, perhaps even go beyond what the 3D cameras are capable of."
- Tim Sassoon, President, Sassoon Film Design
